My career started in marine sciences! In 2017 I moved to Charleston, SC for my Master's degree in Marine Biology. My thesis focused on quantifying microplastics found in the gut of stranded dolphins and porpoises. After graduating in 2020, I continued working at the NOAA Hollings Marine Laboratory. My work involved responding to stranded marine mammals along the SC coast, conducting necropsies, and continuing microplastic research.
One of the greatest perks of this job were the frequent field days exploring the marshes and secluded islands around Charleston. It was here that I really became interested in creatively capturing the flora and fauna around me.
In 2022, I illustrated “The Little Sailor’s ABCs,” by Elayna Carausu. I fell in love with illustration and started creating stories of my own.
Driven by my love of adventure, whimsy, and the environment, “The Adventurous Readers Series” was born!
